Family Snapshots

This is the second roll of Var-i-pan 127 type film that came from the USA. I processed it in HC-110(B) at 18 °C but reduced the development time to 6 minutes. Like the first Var-i-pan, the negative turned out very dense with a lot of fog and grain.

Only six frames were shot on this film. Half of the frames were left blank. Apparently, the camera was very simple and did not have a double exposure prevention mechanism that would also eliminate blank frames.

Here we have classic family snapshots. Maybe someone was testing a new camera and just came out to their front yard to take some snapshots of the kids using the family car as a background. There is a stricking contrast between the condition of the film and the subject matter of these images. Everything was new when the pictures were taken: new suburb, new homes, shiny new cars, young trees on the front yards and small kids. There is also something disturbing in the way the figures seem to evaporate from the images.
